Gene Schmid

We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and brother in Christ. Rev. Gene Schmid entered into eternal glory June 17, 2023. He served on a pastoral role at West View for over 28 years. 8 years as Senior Pastor, 1966-1974 and 20 years as Associate Pastor, 2003-2023. He will remain our Associate Pastor in perpetuity to honor his faithful service to the gospel of Jesus Christ so 68 years.

At 96 years young, Gene Schmid is truly a blessing to us at West View Baptist. Gene is a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer having served 20 years on active duty from 1943 to 1963. He attended seminary at Clear Creek Bible College in Kentucky and his first pastorate was at West View Baptist in the late 60s and early 70s. Gene and his wife Allene served together at numerous churches where Gene pastored and Allene taught children's Sunday School and played piano or organ. Allene passed away May 8, 2012.

Throughout Gene's multiple pastorates one thing has resonated in his over 50 years of professional ministry, the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
